The Acalanes Women’s Basketball team (1-0) won their season opener against Novato High School 54-39 this Wednesday night.
There was much excitement from the Lady Dons as they embarked on their 2014-2015 season, returning their same starting five from last year’s NCS team. Yet again, the Lady Dons are a fairly young team, but full of positive energy and has great chemistry.
Novato was the first of many teams this year to experience just how good the Lady Dons are.
Acalanes dominated the majority of the game. Despite it being relatively close in the first the Lady Dons were able to build momentum with great hustle plays and junior Julia Lyons making shots from the perimeter to build up a lead.
The Dons led at the half and expounded upon their double digit lead in the second half of the game.
Acalanes won convincingly 54-39 with junior Julia Lyons leading the team with 12 points.
The Lady Dons have a while to fine tune aspects of their game before they travel to Sonoma to take on Sonoma Valley High School next week.
