Men’s Tennis Breezes into CIF State Semifinals

// The 4 seeded Acalanes Dons defeated 5 seed Rio Americano this friday in the CIF State playoffs by a score of 6-1. Acalanes proved itself to be a force and Rio Americano received the Dons’ wrath.

There was outstanding play across the board; Acalanes top three singles players, Kyle Everly, Ryan Cardiff and Isaiah Bird all won their matches handily.

On the doubles side the Dons were flawless. Ian Dao and Preston Tso won their match and Trenton Tso and Alex Hassiem won theirs. Juniors Conor Mcglyn and Nico Brightbill celebrated Brightbill’s 17th birthday with a 6-4 6-3 victory.

This match was a warmup for the Dons as they will face top seed Menlo in the next round. The Dons will have to carry the momentum from this win and all play to the best of their ability if they wish to advance to the finals. Menlo defeated their opponent, Lowell, 7-0.

The semifinal match will be held tomorrow at 1pm and if the Dons advance, the finals will be at 3 pm.
