// The Acalanes Men’s Tennis team, the 4 seed in the CIF State playoffs, lost to 1 seed and champion Menlo this Saturday afternoon.
The Dons knew they would have their hands full taking on the second best high school tennis team in the nation.
Unfortunately, Acalanes was just overmatched and overwhelmed, losing each match and ending with a final score 7-0.
Menlo advanced to the final where they faced Dougherty Valley, the NCS champion, and beat them 7-0 as well. Menlo did not lose a single game the entire tournament, winning all matches 7-0.
Acalanes still had the most successful season in its history with accolades such as: best record (25-5), first NCS finals and first State semifinals. These feats were not achieved even with eventual Division 1 players such as Dan Cardiff. This year, Acalanes came together as a team, captained by senior Ian Dao, and had one of the best Acalanes tennis seasons on record.
