// Second period today, students across the school watched intently as their teachers cued up the Acalanes Communications Board’s first video product of the 2015-2016 school year. This month’s video received a warm welcome, as both students and teachers have been waiting for a communications episode that meets the criteria of being both informative and entertaining. The September video has delivered.

Dara Feller, senior and member of the board, was originally apprehensive about the quality of the videos, but after completing the first video she is now confident that the Communications Board can continue to develop and to deliver more quality video products.

“Maddie and I were very nervous considering that we were a completely new board with 3 first year leadership students,” said Feller. “But we were so wrong! Everyone is really pulling their own weight and highlighting their strengths. We were all really proud of this first video because it was so different from what we were used to. We were really lucky to get people who were great with both editing and concepts for videos.”

Other members of the Communications Board include Maddie Guzaitis, Nicole O’Connor, Jamie Barr and Anna Deroque. Each member contributes to the development of the film in a different way, with some providing editing capabilities and others using their talents to shine in front of the leadership camera.

Looking forward, the board is focusing on continuing to combine entertainment with information.

“That was a real struggle for us last year,” said Feller. But due to their hard work, this year’s Communications Board is definitely moving in the right direction.

“We’re thinking of adding more music and go pro shots. Future videos will be the style of this one as opposed to last year or those preceding. We really love the feedback we’ve been getting on this one so we are going to try our hardest to get all the good stuff in!”
