// The Acalanes football team (1-3) fell to Analy high school 41-20 this Friday night.
This Dons loss comes after losing to Heritage high school in the waning minutes 28-25 last week.
Acalanes geared up for their tough opponent with a solid week of intense practice and were ready to take the field for their second home game of the season.
The Dons failed to stop Analy on their first defensive stint of the game but the Tigers missed their PAT and lead only 6-0.
Acalanes then responded and scored on their first drive of the game when senior captain Jake Berry connected with senior Matt Bostwick. Bryan Bamford missed his PAT and the score was tied at 6 apiece.
Analy then scored on their next drive and converted the PAT to go up by 7.
The Dons then turned it over on their next drive and Analy scored again with less than 30 seconds in the first quarter to take a 20-6 lead over the Dons.
In the second it was much of the same with the Dons turning the ball over and Analy overpowering Acalanes’ defense.
The Tigers tacked on 14 more points and lead 34-6 at the half.
The second half of the game was much more defensive with neither team able to find the back of the end zone.
Acalanes finally broke through with a running touchdown from senior Nathan Edwards, ending a 30 minute scoring drought.
The Dons trailed by 21 heading into the fourth quarter.
Analy scored once more in the fourth to take a 41-13 lead and Acalanes was able to score again, this time senior Leo Barakos to make the final score 41-20.
The Dons were dismayed by the loss but will continue to work hard in practice and make sure that they maintain their focus and execute their game plan during the game.
“We played really good last week and a had a great week at practice but last night there were lots of mental mistakes on offense and defense with too many turnovers,” said senior captain Jack Brydon.
The Dons next game is October 2nd against Alhambra at home. The Dons will two weeks to prepare for the Bulldogs and will look to end their two game losing skid and also get their first home win of the season.
