The Acalanes Football team (2-4) was shutout by Dublin High School 17-0 this Friday night.
The Dons came off a big win against Alhambra High School in which the team put up 34 points, their highest scoring game of the season. However, Acalanes couldn’t keep the offensive momentum going when they visited Dublin.
Turnovers was the storyline of this game; Dublin forcing them and Acalanes failing to see drives through by not being able to retain possession of the ball.
Neither team’s offense was able to establish itself as a force in the first half. Both Dublin and Acalanes put together long, clock-eating drives but failed to produce any points as a result of them.
Dublin was able to get paid off for its efforts and found the back of the end zone and converted the PAT to go up 7-0 at the half.
The second half was much of the same with Acalanes driving down the field only to fumble the ball and have Dublin recover it.
Dublin scored twice more, a touchdown and a field goal to give themselves a comfortable lead over the Dons.
Acalanes’ homecoming game is Friday October 16th against Dougherty Valley.
