The Acalanes Womens Waterpolo team, the 3 seed in NCS, defeated 14 seed Ukiah this Wednesday night by a score of 12-6.
The Lady Dons asserted their dominance early in the game, leading 4-0 after the first quarter and completely halting Ukiah’s offense. Senior captain Hannah Kresnak got the scoring going early with the first two goals of the game.
In the second, Acalanes expanded their lead, driving the score up to 10-1. Midway through the quarter the Lady Dons pulled their starting six and replaced them with their second string to give those players more experience and rest the starters.
The second string continued the with the intensity of the first string and tacked on some more goals, but unfortunately conceded one goal.
The second half was much of the same with the Lady Dons retaining the lead and never really giving Ukiah a hope of coming back into the game. Although players that had been brought up to play in NCS from the junior varsity team were in the game, Acalanes still handled Ukiah.
Senior Hannah Kresnak scored 3 goals and freshman Kylie Walker scored 2.
Acalanes will face 6 seed Drake in the quarterfinals this Saturday.
