Acalanes Girls Volleyball Wins CIF Northern Regional Championship

//The Acalanes Girls Volleyball team defeated Sonora High to win the Division 3 CIF Northern Regional Championship Saturday night.

It took five sets to determine the winner, and each set offered its good share of excitement. With Sonora taking the first set by a close 25-23 margin, Acalanes came back an won the second set.

However, Sonora came back in the third set to take a 2-1 lead, one set win shy of winning the game. Acalanes needed two straight set wins to win the game.

Arguably the most intense set of the championship game, Acalanes battled back and forth with Sonoma to win the fourth set 28-26, led by senior Parker Jones. With the momentum on their side, Acalanes would win the fifth and final set to clinch the championship.

They advance to the Division 3 State Championship against Crossroads School (Santa Monica) down in Southern California, Saturday December 3.
