//Acalanes Girls Volleyball team became Division 3 State Champions for the first time in history against Crossroads High School on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams rallied back and forth, forcing the game to five sets and keeping spectators guessing. The Lady Dons dominated the first set with a promising score of 25-13.
Crossroads came back in the second set, but Acalanes determinedly finished the set at 26-24. The Lady Dons endured the next two sets with losses of 22-25 and 17-25.
Acalanes and Crossroads similarly struggled in the fifth set until the very end. However, senior captains Parker Jones and Melissa Elliott pushed the Lady Dons towards victory, winning the championship in overtime at 16-14.
