// The Acalanes women's lacrosse team (11-4 overall, 2-2 league) has had an explosive start to their season.
The Dons started their season with a solid win against Dougherty Valley 16-10 on Feb. 20. They followed up this game with an unfortunate loss against California on Feb. 23, 9-15. However, the Dons bounced back quickly with an impressive victory against San Marin on Feb. 27 winning 11-9.
The team continued their winning streak with a blowout game against Granada with a score of 14-3 on March 1 and proceeded to win a challenging game against Piedmont on March 6 with a score of 10-9. This positive momentum carried forward when the Dons beat Northgate 16-6 on March 8.
The girls have high expectations as the season progresses.
“So far the season is going really well. I think the team has a ton of potential, especially with all the young players on our team, and I'm excited to see how far the team goes,” senior Kelly Todhunter said.
Players point out how the close-knit environment allows them to enjoy the sport and succeed in competition.
“I love the sport because it is really aggressive and fast-paced. I also love the whole team dynamic and feel like I’m close with my teammates which makes it fun to play with them,” senior Jenna Steele said.
The Dons have had an amazing start to their season and are ready to reach their goals in the remaining regular season games.
“I have big hopes for the team this season since I think we have an immensely talented group of players. Since it’s my last season, I would love for us to do well, beat our rivals, and make it far in postseason play,” senior Ella Thomason said.
